Hi folks,
Hey I am just finishing the website overhaul for our Alaska Avalanche Specialists site. It now not only includes snow stuff like all our avalanche course listings, and some great deals on G3 demo skis and bindings, all of which should be of interest to snowkiters, but we split off the kite shop and school into a separate Alaska Windjammer Kites section.
The Alaska Windjammer Kites pages include demo deals on Ozone water and snow kites, good prices on new Xenon boards, and now we can order from most other manufacturers of kite gear as well. We are teaching kite camps for new kiters on both snow and water, starting next spring.
But the most fun section is our About Kiting page, which lines out everything a prospective kiter should know to get started, and includes lots of photos and information on Juneau, Haines, and Skagway area kite spots.

We have had some great water kiting in Juneau today and all this week; nice fall storm-riding at Sandy Beach and in the Mendenhall Wetlands!

winter
Hi, I don't know too much about how it has been in Juneau, other than that the thaws have made the lakes unkiteable too often. It was great in November and December; we water kited right up to the switchover and explored the wetlands at high tide as a great venue.
December had awesome kiting on Twin Lakes and at the Sandy Beach ballfield when the ice was thin, but I have been in Japan mostly skiing powder since mid December, will be back to Juneau in early spring. Only got out kiting once here; snow has been mostly too deep to walk to your kite without skis on! ::)
How's your winter going
Hi Bill,
How's the winter going in Juneau? All this snow has created some awesome conditions up in Haines (once you dodge the thaws and freezes!)
Keep up the stoke!
