November 2012 will go down in the record books as an incredible snow month in Haines, Alaska. We had a total of 11 ft in one month! Normally, November sees us travelling up to the pass to get our snowkiting fun, but this year we had really cold weather for weeks on end and literally mountains of fresh powder - at sea level.
The local crew took full advantage of the conditions getting some really good sessions in. Sometimes, the complaint was too deep, too much powder, etc. etc. The jumps were soft and smooth and the landings even softer and smoother!
December has proven to be a bit sloppier, wetter and warmer, so we are now waiting for some good Christmas chilly weather with lots of precip, so that we can once again get out and get our stoke!

Spoke too soon
The promise of November turned to slush down in Southeast. Plenty of snow, but also plenty of warm weather made for less-than-optimal kiting conditions. There were several times around Christmas that it would have been totally feasible to get out on the water! Now, we are halfway into January and the rivers are still flowing, which cuts into our playground potential. Up on the passes, the conditions are nice, but we are spoiled!
Next week is calling for a real cold snap so that should lock up the river and we can get out there! Here's hoping.
